Pregnant, and looking for a simple, multifunctional prop to support your pregnancy? Look no further than a yoga block!

Skip Expensive Exercise Gear, This Simple Prop Can Do So Many Things to Support Your Pregnancy!
Pregnancy is a time when people will try to sell you things you absolutely don't need. I'm here to do the opposite. You might even have a yoga block lying around somewhere, if not you can borrow one from a friend, find one second hand or buy one for less than $10. This one multifunctional prop can help with core engagement, stability, mobility and more!
Support Your Pregnancy By Using a block to learn about PELVIC STABILITY
A block on the back of your pelvis during certain activities can teach your body where to move and where NOT to move. Many of us were never taught how to stabilize our pelvis, so when we move our hips we often move our low backs as well. Pelvic stability is incredibly important during pregnancy. When your body is searching for stability around the pelvis it will often cause other muscles like the inner thighs or pelvic floor muscles to stay tight or work too hard.
Support Your Pregnancy By Using a block to ENGAGE YOUR CORE
A yoga block makes one of the most effective tools to boost core engagement. Simple additions like a block between the knees, inner thighs or even between your hands during certain movements can recruit more muscles as you engage the core.
Support Your Pregnancy By Using a block to MOBILIZE YOUR PELVIS
You can really get creative with your mobility when you have a yoga block. One of my favorite pregnancy and birth specific ways to use the block is to create asymmetry by placing a block under one knee in quadruped (hands and knees). Your Mid-Pelvis loves asymmetrical movements, and so do your pelvic floor muscles.

I hope this inspires you to bust out your old yoga block to help support your body through pregnancy, as you prepare for birth and beyond. I use the block in almost all of the prenatal exercise classes in my self paced pregnancy program "Aligned and Empowered Prenatal".
