That third trimester tightness is real! When it feels like you just can't take a deep breath, give your ribs some space to breathe with these movements and stretches to mobilize your rib cage for bigger and better breath.

Start with 360 Breathing with a strap
The goal is to feel the entire rib cage EXPAND as you inhale. As you exhale, the ribs should naturally come back in toward the body. Using a strap or a sweatshirt here is so helpful because it gives your brain feedback. It tells the body there is something to breathe into as a target.
Follow that up with Side Bends
Side bends are an amazing way to mobilize the rib cage and give you and baby space to breathe. Side bends feel great for low back tightness as well!
Mobilize the Ribs even more in Quadruped
Come to hands and knees (quadruped) and work on some Thoracic rotation. Keep your low back long as you turn your ribs. This movement gives the breath more space to go.
Pregnancy can be uncomfortable, but movement can help!
In my Aligned and Empowered Prenatal Program, there's a whole class addressing this issue called "Tight Rib Remedy". The program has 30+ classes to help you feel strong during pregnancy, prepare for birth and postpartum at your own pace.
